Lutheran Teens Encounter Christ
(T.E.C.) What is Teens Encounter Christ? ·
A Lutheran based retreat ministry for high school age
youth ·
A chance to strengthen your faith in Christ and learn more
about what it means to daily live out your baptism ·
Retreats planned and led by youth working with pastors and
lay adults, all of whom have participated in a previous T.E.C. weekend ·
An experience in Christian community ·
Two T.E.C. organizations hold retreats in North Carolina: o
"Share The Word T.E.C." in eastern NC (Greensboro
area and east) o
"Hand in Hand T.E.C." in western NC (Charlotte,
Hickory, west) What happens at a Teens Encounter
Christ weekend retreat? ·
You hear youth, pastors, and adults share ways to live
faithfully and keep a close relationship with Christ. ·
You participate in daily worship and communion. ·
You have opportunities to learn more about yourself and to
examine your relationship with Christ. ·
You join a Christian community as you participate in small
discussion groups. ·
You enjoy the entire group at meals, during recreation,
and in fun activities. ·
You learn how to share your faith with others more
effectively. ·
You sing lots of great songs! (If you have been to a synod youth event or ever heard
"Lost and Found", we're sure you will know at least some of them.) ·
You get to know other Christian youth, mostly Lutheran,
from Eastern NC, make great friends, and find a supportive Christian
community. How long is a Teens Encounter Christ
weekend retreat? Three days,
with each day having its own theme grounded in Lutheran theology: ·
Die Day - As Christ died for us, so we need
to die to ourselves through confession and forgiveness. ·
Rise Day - As Christ rose from death, so we
are given new life in Christ through our baptism. ·
Go Day – As the disciples were sent out by
Christ, so we are sent out with the Holy Spirit to share Christ’s love. Who attends a Teens Encounter Christ
weekend retreat? ·
Youth and adults who have been baptized and confirmed.
Youth must have completed one semester of 9th grade and be at
least 15 years old. ·
Attendance is limited to 25 youth guests and 10 adult
guests. (The first time that youth from a congregation attend a TEC retreat,
we strongly recommend that at least one adult from that church also attend.) ·
Pastors are always welcome to attend as
guests. Share the Word TEC retreats are held
Saturday 9:00 AM – Monday 4:30 PM on Labor
Day and Martin Luther King holiday weekends. How can I get more information and/or
